Euxyl® K 900 Preservative in Glimmer Goddess® Skincare

Preservation is an important part of making water-based skincare products. This guide explains why Glimmer Goddess® uses preservatives where needed and what Euxyl® K 900 is. The ingredient list on each product remains the best source for that specific formula.

Why do skincare products need preservatives?

Products containing water, aloe, or other water-based ingredients can be vulnerable to bacteria, yeast, and mold during storage and use. A suitable preservative system helps protect the formula. Packaging, pH, manufacturing practices, and testing also matter; no single ingredient makes every product safe on its own.

What is Euxyl® K 900?

Euxyl® K 900 is a cosmetic preservative blend used in some Glimmer Goddess® formulations. According to its supplier, its INCI components are Benzyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, and Tocopherol. The blend is designed to help protect suitable formulas against bacteria, yeast, and mold. Euxyl® K 900 is a different blend from Euxyl® K 903; our earlier page incorrectly identified the preservative as K 903.

See the supplier’s Euxyl® K 900 information.

Is Euxyl® K 900 “natural”?

“Natural preservative” can mean different things to different people. We prefer to name the preservative and its components instead of suggesting that every component is certified organic or that a “natural” label alone establishes safety. The finished product’s ingredient list identifies what is in that formula.

Can a preservative cause a skin reaction?

Skin sensitivity varies by person. Even a properly formulated product may not suit everyone, including people with known ingredient sensitivities. Check the product’s ingredient list before use and patch test a new product if your skin is reactive. Stop using a product if irritation occurs, and seek advice from a healthcare professional when needed.

Read our patch testing guide.

Does every Glimmer Goddess® product contain Euxyl® K 900?

No single preservative statement should be applied to our entire collection. Formulas differ, and anhydrous products have different preservation needs from water-based products. Review the current ingredient list for the exact product and variant you are considering, or contact Customer Care with a question about a specific formula.

Our approach to transparency

We disclose ingredients rather than describing a water-based formula as “preservative free” when it uses a preservative system. We also review formulas and packaging as products evolve. For more about our standards, visit our Ingredient Standards page.
